What we've done..

Recyclable Box, Leaflet and Bags
All the boxes, leaflets and bags in our Eco range are fully recyclable. Our new Eco range of products now have paper bags instead of plastic bags which can be recycled with the retail box & leaflet, in your standard paper/card recycling. Certified Biodegradable Toy Gelli Baff and Slime Baff have both passed the Bio-degradation Test OECD 301B as tested by Intertek. Intertek is the largest & most respected tester of consumer goods in the world and they have a network of more than 1,000 laboratories across around 100 countries. The OECD 301B test adds a product to sewerage and measures its rate of bio-degradation. Our products are classed as biodegradable according to the standard. UK Manufactured
Zimpli Kids now manufacture 95%+ of our products in our company-owned UK factory. Our factory ISO 9001 accredited & ISO 14001 accredited, the coveted environmental certification awarded to companies who prove they minimise how their operations negatively affect the environment and comply with all applicable laws in regards to effective environmental management and sustainability. |
Packaging made from recycled board
We have chosen to change all of our retail and CDU boxes to recycled board and have a plain white background on four of the sides of the box (which reduces the ink used by 49%) to reduce our environmental impact. Zimpli Kids have recently joined the OPRL scheme (On-Pack Recycling Label) meaning all of our boxes will have consistent on-pack guidance to make it clear to customers how the packaging can be recycled. We proudly manufacture to both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards but we are aware that by changing our bags from plastic to paper & using recycled board, there is a minimal reduction in quality. Indeed, our paper bags do not seal quite as reliably as plastic bags and our retail packaging may not be quite as shiny in recycled board as it would on new board, but we firmly believe this very nominal reduction in quality is more than justified – We hope you do too! Minimum Sized Packaging Retailers and manufacturers are both guilty of purposely ‘over sizing’ packaging in an attempt to make a product look better value, this, unfortunately, has a substantial effect on the carbon footprint of the product re both excess packaging materials and increased logistics costs. Our new range uses box sizes we believe are suitable for their contents with little excess space within the box. |
